James Webb Telescope Discovers a Galaxy Full of Star Births

It seems like we are reporting on the James Webb Telescope all the time. Recently, it found a planet called GJ 1214 B. Once again, the telescope has discovered something interesting. This time, it's a distant galaxy full of stars being born.At about 12 billion light years away, the GN20 galaxy seems to be full of star formations, which is most likely caused by a collision with another galaxy. This was discovered thanks to astronomers led by Luis Colina, at the Spanish Astrobilogy Center. They used images made by the James Webb Space Telescope's Mid-Infrared Instrument, which were taken between November 23 and 24th last year. The astronomers found the early star-forming galaxy has a nucleus full of densely clustered stars in the core, which are surrounded by an envelope of gas. Meteorite That Crashed Into A Hopewell Township Home Is 4.5 Billion Years Old

On Monday, a metallic object crashed through a roof in Hopewell Township , New Jersey.According to a statement released by the Hopewell Township police department, a "metallic object struck the roof of a home, which went through the roof and impacted the hardwood floor". The police later released the image, which you can see above. The police then contacted several agencies about the object, such as the College of New Jersey. It looks like they finally got answers, when a Facebook post identified the object as a meteor about 4.56 billion years old.The college goes on to say the meteorite is a type LL-6, which means it's lower in iron than most chondrite meteorites. They also identified the object to be about 2.2 pounds."Getting the chance to examine the meteorite yesterday ...

Saturn Has Much Younger Rings Than We Thought

Physicist Sascha Kempf from the University of Colorado Boulder has presented compelling evidence that the rings of Saturn are surprisingly young, resolving a mystery that has puzzled scientists for more than a century.According to a study published on May 12 in the journal Science Advances, the rings are no more than 400 million years old, which is much younger than the planet. Saturn itself is only 4.5 billion years old, and compared to the rings, that's a huge difference.Researchers discovered this by studying the accumulation of dust on the rings, using data from NASA's Cassini spacecraft. This spacecraft orbited Saturn from 2004 to 2017, which gave researchers loads of information to work with.Kempf says the dust says a lot about the age of the rings . "Think about the r...

NASA’s Perseverance Rover Spots Evidence of River On Mars

Recent images taken by NASA's Perseverance rover suggest rivers once existed on mars, in the form of waterways that once flowed into the Jezero Crater.Researchers believe these findings could possibly aid in the search for signs of life, that could possibly be preserved in Martian rock. The Perseverance Rover is currently exploring a fan-shaped pile of sedimentary rock that stands 820 feet (250 meters) tall, and features layers that seem to have formed by flowing water. Scientists are trying to determine whether the water flowed in relatively shallow streams, or in a more powerful river system.Images taken by Perseverance's Mastcam-Z instrument reveal coarse sediment grains and cobbles, indicating the presence of river that once carried a significant amount of debris.Libb...

James Webb Telescope Finds Planet GJ 1214 B

Today, NASA said the James Webb Space Telescope has observed a distant planet outside our solar system. The planet is being called GJ 1214 b, seems to be a highly reflective world with a steamy atmosphere.NASA says the planet is too hot to harbor liquid-water oceans, but that doesn't stop the possibility of water in vaporized form in the atmosphere.According to Eliza Kempton, a researcher at the University of Maryland, “The planet is totally blanketed by some sort of haze or cloud layer. The atmosphere just remained totally hidden from us until this observation.”To get past this layer, the research team tracked GJ 1214 B through it's entire orbit around the star. They found that the planet had different temperatures based on it's orbit - they ranged from 535 to 326 degrees ...

Space Station Startup Vast Will Create the First Commercial Space Station

Vast, a space station startup, has announced its intention to launch what it claims will be the first commercial space station. The company has signed a contract with SpaceX to launch a free-flying module called Haven-1, which will be visited by the Crew Dragon mission Vast-1.Haven-1 will provide 70 cubic meters of pressurized volume and 15 kilowatts of power, and the visiting crew will be transported with the payloads and consumables needed for their stay. The module is designed to be a precursor for space stations that Vast proposes to develop with Starship. While the hardware hasn't been built yet, the company is working on prototypes of the structure at its Long Beach, California headquarters.Vast's president, Max Haot, emphasized the importance of demonstrating the company...

More Starlink Satellites Launch From Falcon 9 Today At California

Today, SpaceX will attempt to launch more Starlink satellites into orbit. The company is looking to send a Falcon 9 rocket up at about 4:09 PM EDT, from the Vanderberg Space Force base in California. This rocket will carry 51 satellites for Starlink into orbit. However, if some reason this fails, they have already scheduled another opportunity for 3:55 PM EDT on Thursday. For those that didn't know, Starlink is an internet provider that uses satellites to deliver internet to people on Earth. They promise high speed, however experiences seem to be all over the place. Some people get good internet, which others company speeds are all over the place and Internet barely works during storms. Not to mention Elon Musk is a fanatic for selling false promises.

The Eta Aquarids Meteor Shower Peaks This Saturday

The Eta Aquarids meteor shower, which started on April 15th, will peak this Saturday. What makes the Eta Aquarids special is the meteors are space debris from Halley's Comet, which returns to earth about every 75 years. This meteor shower is best viewed from the Southern Hemisphere, or close to the equator. However, some people in northern areas can observe them as well. If you get a chance to look, you can expect somewhere around 50 meteors per hour. However if you live in the northern hemisphere, you can expect between 10-30 meteors per hour. The best time to view seems to be around 2am., and meteors are expected to show all across the sky - not just in the Aquarius Constellation. If you are interested in the return of Halley's comet, we will have to wait awhile - it's expected...

Scientists Discovered a Star Swallowing an Entire Planet

For the first time ever, Scientists have discovered a star swallowing an entire planet in just one meal.On Wednesday, a team of astronomers from MIT, Harvard, and Caltech along with other institutions, reported these findings after discovering a planet around the size of Jupiter being swallowed by a star. What's even scarier about this is that Scientists also believe this will happen someday to earth - However, it will happen in about 5 billion years. Thankfully we won't be around to be eaten by a star. The scientists claim the planet was spiraling close to a dying star 1,000 times its size, until it was finally ingested into the nearby star's core.. The star also grew bigger and more than 1000 times brighter than usual in just 10 times. After that, it quickly faded and eventually ...

Lockheed Martin Will Reorganize It’s Space Business

On May 4th, Lockheed Martin announced they are reorganizing several space businesses into three different sectors: Commercial civil space, national security space, and strategic and missile defense.Starting with the Commercial Civil Space sector, they will focus on space exploration missions, space infrastructure, and scientific projects. The National Security space will be led by vice president and general manager Maria Demaree, which will be a new area of business that includes classified and defense portfolios in support of the U.S. militart and special programs. Finally, the strategic and missile defense will focus on strategic deterrence, missile defense, and hypersonic vehicle programs. This makes me wonder, are we working on a secret alien defense program? For those wh...
