Virgin Orbit Disassembled as Company Ceases Operations

Virgin Orbit, once a thriving company, has undergone a significant transformation as it recently faced bankruptcy. In an auction that followed, the company was sold off in parts. Rocket Lab USA, a modest satellite launch provider and aerospace manufacturer, made a noteworthy acquisition by purchasing Virgin Orbit's expansive Long Beach headquarters spanning 144,000 square feet, along with a range of machinery and equipment.Rocket Lab USA, located conveniently in Long Beach, is currently engrossed in the development of Neutron, a larger launch vehicle. Peter Beck, CEO and founder of Rocket Lab, expressed his satisfaction with the purchase, highlighting the added value of Virgin Orbit's lease. According to Beck, this acquisition allows for a collaborative environment with shared enginee...

NASA’s Public UFO Meeting Tells Us More About The Encounters

With all the UFO incidents over the years, it looks like NASA has investigated over 800 different reports. This information was recently released to the public, thanks to NASA's team which investigates these sightings.Out of all these 800 different reports, it looks like only a small number of them are truly explained, which means there is something out there we can't yet understand. In a meeting, Sean Kirkopatrick, director of NASA's Anomaly Resolution Office, said "We have 50 to 100-ish new UFO reports each month". The number of these sightings which are unexplained are between 2 and 5%, which is astonishing to think about. The agency also wanted to people that privacy is a big issue, which is why some anomalies are not researched. Since some of the encounters can be on priva...

AT2021lwx Is The Largest Cosmic Explosion Ever Noticed

It seems like every time we discover something "big" in space, we find something even bigger. Astronomers have recently discovered the largest explosion ever witnessed in space, and it's being called AT2021lwx.The explosion has lasted for about three years at nearly 8 billion light-years away from Earth. What's even crazier about this is it's still being detected by telescopes, and the light from the explosion is three times brighter than tidal disruption events. If you didn't know, tidal disruption events include tings such as when stars fall into black holesAstronomers are saying AT2021lwx took place when a supermassive black hole disrupted a gas or dust cloud, which was thousands of times larger than our sun. The cloud was most likely drawn off it's course and went into a black...

Best Space Books To Get To Learn More About The Universe

Space is a pretty big place. We got planets much bigger than our own, and some that are made of just gas. However, that's just a small fraction of everything we know about space. When you want to learn more, check out these space books! All of them we have read ourselves.Astrophysics for People in a Hurry, by Niel Degrasse TysonThis is one of the first Niel Tyson books I got my hands on, and It was good. While some sections I felt like where a bit too "mathematical" for me, there is still loads of interesting information about space. The Uni-verse , by John BrockmanThis book does a lot of exploring of our universe, in all sorts of topics. John talks about the origin of the universe, in addition to topics such as particle physics, and the shape of the universe. The Pluto ...

Meteorite That Crashed Into A Hopewell Township Home Is 4.5 Billion Years Old

On Monday, a metallic object crashed through a roof in Hopewell Township , New Jersey.According to a statement released by the Hopewell Township police department, a "metallic object struck the roof of a home, which went through the roof and impacted the hardwood floor". The police later released the image, which you can see above. The police then contacted several agencies about the object, such as the College of New Jersey. It looks like they finally got answers, when a Facebook post identified the object as a meteor about 4.56 billion years old.The college goes on to say the meteorite is a type LL-6, which means it's lower in iron than most chondrite meteorites. They also identified the object to be about 2.2 pounds."Getting the chance to examine the meteorite yesterday...

Saturn Has Much Younger Rings Than We Thought

Physicist Sascha Kempf from the University of Colorado Boulder has presented compelling evidence that the rings of Saturn are surprisingly young, resolving a mystery that has puzzled scientists for more than a century.According to a study published on May 12 in the journal Science Advances, the rings are no more than 400 million years old, which is much younger than the planet. Saturn itself is only 4.5 billion years old, and compared to the rings, that's a huge difference.Researchers discovered this by studying the accumulation of dust on the rings, using data from NASA's Cassini spacecraft. This spacecraft orbited Saturn from 2004 to 2017, which gave researchers loads of information to work with.Kempf says the dust says a lot about the age of the rings . "Think about the ...

Scientists Discovered a Star Swallowing an Entire Planet

For the first time ever, Scientists have discovered a star swallowing an entire planet in just one meal.On Wednesday, a team of astronomers from MIT, Harvard, and Caltech along with other institutions, reported these findings after discovering a planet around the size of Jupiter being swallowed by a star. What's even scarier about this is that Scientists also believe this will happen someday to earth - However, it will happen in about 5 billion years. Thankfully we won't be around to be eaten by a star. The scientists claim the planet was spiraling close to a dying star 1,000 times its size, until it was finally ingested into the nearby star's core.. The star also grew bigger and more than 1000 times brighter than usual in just 10 times. After that, it quickly faded and eventually...

Some Things You May Not Know About Space

Look above you and you will find space - a place full of countless planets, stars, nebulae, and who knows what else? For all we know, there would be life on some of those planets. We have gathered a list of some things you may not know about space. The Andromeda Galaxy and Milky Way will eventually collide. The Milky Way is on a course for collision with the Andromeda Galaxy. When this happens, stars from both galaxies will fall into new orbits. While all this sounds fascinating, it wont happen for another 2.5 billion years or so.Earth has it easy.We should be thankful we are here on Earth - it is one of the more easier planets to live on. For example, the Great Red Spot storm on Jupiter has been going on for about 300 years, with winds reaching about 270 mph.Saturn als...
